David Murphy, Publisher of SalesTraq of New Mexico focused his presentation around this question: "Are we at the bottom of the market?" By looking at both new and resale price and inventory information, the answer was a definite 'no'. Mr. Murphy suggested that a true "bottom" would be at least 12 to 18 months away, due to the high inventory and rising pressures of inflation.
Ms. Kristy Moyer, Administrator for Build Green New Mexico, spoke about "Green" new home building in the metro area. Her presentation highlighted specific details as to what qualifies a home as being green, and the various levels of certification.
Finally, Mr. Gary Tonjes, President of Albuquerque Economic Development, gave an overview of the various economic engines that in turn drive the local home market. His presentation was optimistic in pointing out the very high level of interest that other companies are showing at the prospect of relocating to the Duke City. He also highlighted local technologies that are incubated here and then brought to the market.
